About the event

Part 1 provides an introduction to the foundations of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the principles that underpin contemporary behaviour support practice. Participants will explore the history and evolution of PBS, behaviour as communication, person-centred and strengths-based approaches, human rights considerations, and quality-of-life outcomes.

This module introduces the role of the Behaviour Support Practitioner within the NDIS environment and examines the values that guide ethical, evidence-informed practice. Participants will also gain an understanding of the PBS Capability Framework and how Positive Behaviour Support seeks to improve outcomes through understanding, skill development, environmental supports, and collaboration.

By the end of this module, participants will have a strong foundation for understanding behaviour through a contemporary PBS lens and be prepared to apply these principles throughout the remainder of the course.
