Connected Parenting - Attunment Snaphot

Get a certificate by completing the program.

About

Attunement involves noticing a child's verbal and non-verbal cues, understanding the emotions and needs that may sit beneath behaviour, and responding with empathy, curiosity, and connection. When children feel understood, they are more likely to develop emotional security, trust, self-awareness, resilience, and healthy relationships. Children communicate their needs in many different ways. At times, behaviour may be an expression of stress, overwhelm, uncertainty, frustration, anxiety, sensory needs, or a desire for connection. An attuned approach encourages adults to look beyond the behaviour itself and consider what the child may be experiencing emotionally and developmentally. This snapshot explores how attuned parenting can strengthen relationships, support emotional regulation, and create opportunities for connection during both calm and challenging moments. By responding with empathy and understanding, parents and caregivers can help children build a strong foundation for emotional wellbeing and lifelong relationships. Who Is This Resource For? This resource is designed for parents, caregivers, educators, support workers, allied health professionals, behaviour support practitioners, counsellors, and anyone supporting a child or young person who may be experiencing sensory differences or sensory-related challenges. No prior knowledge of sensory processing is required, making this resource accessible for both families and professionals seeking practical insights into behaviour and sensory experiences. Do I receive a certificate? This training is recognised as equivalent to 2 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) / Professional Development (PD). Participants are encouraged to retain this certificate as evidence of their ongoing professional learning and development. Participants receive a certificate on completion.
