ConnectFirst™ Parent Capacity-Building Program
At ConnectFirst™, we design our supports to align with NDIS expectations so they are meaningful, effective, and directly linked to participant goals.
Under NDIS guidelines, supports must be reasonable and necessary. This means they must relate to the participant’s disability, be likely to be effective, represent value for money, and support progress toward identified goals.
Because of this, we do not provide support in isolation. We first ensure the program is appropriate, aligned, and capable of creating meaningful impact for the participant and their family.
Complete the intake form
To proceed with NDIS-aligned support, families are required to complete an intake form first. This helps us understand participant goals, current needs, and whether the program is appropriate and aligned.
Completing the intake form allows us to review the participant's goals, consider reasonable and necessary criteria, and recommend the most appropriate next steps.
Why we start here
This process helps ensure any support recommended is aligned with participant needs, family context, and meaningful outcomes over time.
NDIS-aligned parent capacity building
Structured around participant goals and outcomes
Includes guided implementation and review
Designed to measure impact over time
What are NDIS supports?
NDIS supports are services, items, and equipment that relate directly to a participant’s disability and are funded to help achieve goals, improve independence, increase participation, and reduce long-term costs of support.
In order to be considered reasonable and necessary, a support must be related to the participant’s disability, not be a general day-to-day living cost, represent value for money, be likely to be effective, and take into account other supports available through family, carers, services, and the community.
ConnectFirst™ Parent Program for NDIS families
Our program is structured to ensure support is practical, goal-aligned, and measurable over time. Rather than offering isolated resources, we offer a pathway designed to build parent capacity and support meaningful outcomes for the participant.
1. Intake & Goal Alignment
We begin by reviewing the participant’s goals, current supports, and priority areas such as regulation, behaviour, communication, and participation. This step helps ensure the program is aligned with NDIS expectations and with the needs of the participant and family.
2. Evidence-Based Behaviour & Regulation Assessment
Structured behaviour and regulation measures are used to establish a baseline and identify current challenges, patterns, and areas of need. This provides a starting point for measuring progress over time.
3. Parent Capacity-Building Course
Families receive practical, relationship-based learning through the ConnectFirst™ parent course. This includes support around understanding behaviour as communication, nervous system regulation, co-regulation, reducing escalation, and strengthening everyday participation.
4. 1:1 Guided Support Sessions
Guided sessions help families apply strategies in real-life contexts, reflect on what is working, and adjust support based on the child’s needs, family environment, and goals.
5. Outcome Tracking & Review
Follow-up review and outcome tracking help monitor changes over time, assess impact, and support evidence of progress toward participant goals.
Intake & Alignment
Initial review of participant goals, family context, and support needs.
Assessment
Evidence-based review of behaviour and regulation to establish a baseline.
Parent Course
Practical learning that builds parent understanding, confidence, and capacity.
Guided Support
Personalised support to implement strategies and review impact over time.
Why this structure matters
At ConnectFirst™, we are not focused on offering isolated supports. We are focused on offering supports that are aligned, practical, and likely to create meaningful change.
This structure helps ensure the program supports parent capacity, strengthens implementation in everyday life, and provides a clear way to assess whether the support is effective over time.
